A Little About Me

It was my passion for the two wheels that first exposed me to the world of yoga. It was through indoor cycling (after discovering a studio that offered a combination of cycling and yoga) that I first came to yoga after wanting to “try” it for many years. Coming from an outdoor cycling background, I was drawn to the studio because of the cycling (at the time, I needed to get back into good physical shape after a several-year hiatus from working out), but like to say that I stayed because of yoga. I found the combination of the two activities to be a fantastic experience. The intensity of the riding is balanced with the introspection of the yoga. Both require intention, expect participation and result in bliss.

I felt a power in yoga that went beyond what I experienced in cycling, or any other physical activity in which I participated. I felt myself grow physically (as in getting more fit, muscularly defined), but also a better sense of being in my body and in “my own skin,” as it were.

I first got certified in indoor cycling (2011), then a short yoga certification (100 hours) and began teaching the combination classes at this particular studio. It was immediately after that 100-hour YTT, I wanted to delve deeper into training and participated in the studio’s 225-YTT (this particular school actually provided an extra 25 hours). I received my YTT certification in 2013.

I didn’t really expect to become a teacher – I had originally just wanted to learn more, but a teacher I did become.

Since I graduated from the 200-level, I have continually sought out trainings to increase my knowledge, especially in anatomy (which we all should do anyway). I felt a huge responsibility on my shoulders; if people were coming to me with their bodies for their bodies, I had better get a better understanding of anatomy: how the body works, and why we do what we do on a physical level.

In fall 2018, I attended The Roll Model® Practitioner training and became a certified Roll Model® Method practitioner.

As my history proved to be true, wanting to become more knowledgeable in the human body and a better teacher, I attended the Yoga Tune Up® Level 1 certification training and became a certified YTU teacher.
