In order to keep our yoga and movement practices fresh and fight the flow state doldrums, let this class recaptivate your interest through breathwork and a concept called the ‘yogic rhythmic breath’. The yogic rhythmic breath recognizes the physiological rhythms of cardiovascular and respiratory activity that are ever present within us. These rhythms seek to be in synchronicity to efficiently meet the demands set upon them by our physical and mental states. In this lesson, discover new ways to experience breath and new approaches to the shapes we make within the context of a popular hatha yoga flow, the sun salute series. These modified exercises help shake up habitual patterns by playing with and reversing when we choose to inhale and when we choose to exhale. This profoundly simple exercise helps pave the way for the more complicated handstand, a pose that requires us to stay fully engaged through breath with the entire body’s muscular system. Cast your attention on how resilient your body can be as it’s held through the narrative of the breath.
