A Little About Me
Karen has a longstanding interest in fitness, movement and health promotion. She was attending a fitness center for weight classes and spin classes when she was also introduced to yoga. She was initially interested in improving her flexibility through yoga but soon learned that the practice offered a myriad of other benefits. She pursued and completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training in 2012 and also went on to complete a 30 hour Yin Yoga Teacher Training. Karen now teaches yoga in a fitness center as well as a yoga studio setting. Karen has been a Physical Therapist for over 26 years working in both acute and predominately rehabilitation settings. She has worked in the area of Orthopedics but has spent most of her career in the field of Neurology working with clients with spinal cord injuries, strokes, traumatic brain injuries and other neurological diagnoses. Her combined interest in Physical Therapy and Yoga prompted her to complete 8 modules in the Professional Yoga Therapy program in 2014. In the past year Karen began to take Cross Fit classes and became interested in the mobility aspects of that sport. This interest led her to the works of Jill Miller and to complete her Level 1 Yoga Tune Up Teacher Training in May of 2015. The Yoga Tune Up training provided Karen with a new set of tools for her treatment toolbox which she is looking forward to sharing with people both in and out of her present work setting.
