Tune Up Fitness is the perfect bridge between high performance and self-care soft tissue maintenance. Rolling prior to workouts increases range of motion, muscle force production and improves proprioception, while rolling post-workouts initiates regeneration, relaxation and adjusts your physiology to hasten deep sleep. In this active recovery/precovery class, you’ll restore suppleness to the muscles used for pull-ups, push-ups, deadlifts, and other common strength-training exercises. This sequence focuses on relieving physical tension and increasing mobility through deep tissue relaxation. It includes myofascial rollout sessions and intermittent check-ins where you’ll assess the effectiveness of the practices that you’ve done. This whole body class helps you restore the gluteus minimus, iliacus, psoas, abdominals, pectorals, quadratus lumborum, latissimus dorsi, serratus anterior, intercostals, spinal muscles and more.
After doing the Active Recovery Day class, we recommend you also do the following class from the Library:
Double down on recovery this week with specialized rollout work into your hips, quads and hamstrings. You’ll feel completely revived.
In this series of MOVE, BREATHE, ROLL – The Logical/Mythological Series, Jill focuses on common myths and misperceptions of practice that still persist in yoga and movement classrooms today. Each class tackles a myth that unrolls like a sticky mat when you filter it through anatomy, kinesiology and physiology. Join Jill on this fun myth-busting journey that also translates into other popular movement forms including pilates, CrossFit and Instagram Inspo. Each class will attempt to unpack a myth from a historical/contextual lens and take you through Tune Up Fitness movement practices that help your body to be a lab of curiosity and discovery.
