This class offers your body a combination of rigorous upper body movements and of more meditative, restorative hip stretches. It’s perfect as either a preparation class before, or remedy after, vigorous sport or exercise.
As with all Yoga Tune Up® classes, the exercises balance skills with both soft tissue elasticity and integrated whole body strength. The poses take your body through ranges of motion that with practice help unwind deeply held tensional patterns and remodel the soft tissues around your joints for more integrity in your movement.
The upper body movements prepare us for the famous arm balance, side crow pose. The preparatory exercises that get you there build connections from your shoulders to your core. The slower leg stretch series offers traction, stretch, and stability deep in the hip socket via the hamstrings, adductors, obliques and the deep hip rotators.
Use this lesson to deepen your self knowledge. Pay close attention to your natural breath patterns in all positions and observe the effects of gravity with interest.
