As bodies age, muscles and fascia experience a precipitous shift on force production and elasticity respectively. For muscles, a decline in fast twitch muscle fibers – the ones that help body parts respond quickly in the event of a slip – sets the stage for fragility. As muscle fibers decline, fascial tissues stiffen and our bodies lose bounding and rebound ability. But it’s NEVER too late to adapt your body to change.
