Downward Dog is a whole body pose that loads abundant body weight into the shoulder girdle. While some students might be distracted trying to get their heels to the ground, the shoulder range of motion could be the real villain. The culprit behind failed attempts at allowing more length throughout the back body to arise. This class helps you explore how the shoulders connect into the fascial tracts of the back body to allow for more ease in range of motion from heels to hands.

After doing the DOWNWARD DOG class, we recommend you also do the following classes from the Library:

  • Shoulder P.E.: Embodiment School for Shoulders
  • Retrofit Your Down Dog

The reason I’m pairing these replay classes with the new DOWNWARD DOG Class is that shoulders are often the snag in your body’s plan to find a pleasant Down Dog. Shoulder Shapely gives you encyclopedic embodiment of your shoulders and helps you become a detective to unlock the missing movement pieces that will allow your shoulders to find comfort in Down Dog.

In this Series, called Evolution, Jill goes back to her roots, teaching 16 different one hour classes, breaking down and building into well-known Yoga Poses as the focus of each class. Using Roll Model® balls, other props and novel strength building exercises, Jill strategically sequences to properly prep the body for each pose.
